With Christmas rapidly approaching it is easy to forget that we are already working on the World Image magazine into the new year. indeed the next issue will be that for January 2015. In truth, we are already working on the magazines through to August 2016, but it becomes more difficult with each passing issue to keep readers interested in the content. We get many new readers each month who visit the website, the average is 500, but what do we need to encourage them to return and read the magazine every month?
I could always put in pictures of me every month (yes, that is me as Santa), to represent the seasons, but that would only last for one year. So we rely on you, the members, to get involved.
12 issues ago I suggested that each person put together an article with pictures depicting their home town, or their favourite place to take pictures. From the response, I deduce that no one likes the place where they live, or has a favourite place where they like to chill out with the camera, at least not they do not like it enough to show it to the world. The exceptions to this are Peter Hogel of Uganda Explorers, and Tom Coetzee of Fstop Safaris, and as regular readers will have seen, Artist Tina Andreasson with her love of Cuba, Mexico and Peru.
You may have heard that the Peoples Photographic Society and World Image Magazine are staging their first Public Exhibition of Photography on the 20th and 21st June 2015, this is true, Pictures on display will be from as many of the 50+ represented countries as we can muster submissions from, and a few more besides.
Ok, so you follow the magazine and/or the blog but are not directly involved with the Society. This does not matter, as a follower of either you, like those who follow in facebook or linkedin, are associate members. You are supporting the magazine and the society, which is what we want and need.
We are looking for people or businesses to sponsor the society, its competitions and its exhibition, of course we are, because we want to expand and give our members something to be proud of. We do not go begging, and we make no requests or demands on anyone because such support should be freely given.
We also try and support other organisations and at the exhibition in June, the Cat Survival Trust will be joining the event.
